Chisa

HavocBroadblade

Chisa | "Just an ordinary student."

Calmly, she introduces herself, a faint iridescent shimmer flickering in her eyes. Again, the structures of the world reveal themselves in her vision. Narrowing her eyes, she singles out the very thread that tugs at life itself.

Character Items

  • Old-Style Scissors item icon

    Old-Style Scissors

A pair of scissors with a vintage design. Once a common sight in every market decades ago, they have since slipped quietly into obscurity. They once trimmed loose threads from a school uniform. They had sliced through the ribbon of a birthday gift. Fate has a habit of hiding its foreshadowing in the smallest of gestures. With each opening and closing, they marked countless endings and beginnings in her life—snipping threads, ribbons, structures, and loops alike. Every cut was never truly an end, but a quiet herald of something new.

  • Red Hair Ribbon item icon

    Red Hair Ribbon

Some say a red thread brings protection. Others believe it wards off evil. But in older tales, it is said to bind people with the inescapable pull of fate. An unseen bond, tied to fate, has quietly linked her to others and to some unknown future with irresistible strength. From that moment on, no matter how long or lonely the journey, she continues forward with the echo of companionship.

  • Protective Charm item icon

    Protective Charm

She still remembers that day. The rain had just lifted, leaving the sky a flawless blue. Her parents held her hands as they rang the shrine's bell rope together. Amidst the lingering chime, her mother fastened a small protective charm to her wrist. "It will always protect you, Chisa." The little Chisa shook her wrist, watching the tassel sway in the breeze, as though answering a vow she was too young to understand. "No matter how far you go, no matter when, we'll always be here, waiting for you to come home."

Havoc Bane Support Build

Healer Support (w/ Negative Status ATK DPS) Build

Skill Priority

5

Forte Circuit

Chisa's Forte is one of her primary skills to upgrade, as this contains her Chainsaw Mode attacks and shielding capabilities. Prioritize this first.

5

Resonance Liberation

Her Liberation is her strongest damaging ability and acts as a nuke, on top of being her primary source of healing. It also buffs her Chainsaw attacks, making it ideal to upgrade this alongside the Forte skill.

3

Normal Attack

Chisa will often be using her Normal attacks throughout her rotations. Though not her primary source of damage, this skill is still worth upgrading for better DPS.

2

Resonance Skill

Her Resonance Skill doesn't deal that much damage. This skill is used more as a utility tool to pull enemies together. Upgrade this after her other skills.

1

Intro Skill

Her Intro Skill is quite lackluster due to having low damage. It also has no special effect that improves by upgrading it, as her buffs come from her Inherent Skill. Upgrade this last, if at all.

Forte Circuit

Unseen Snare

Inflicts a mark on the target for 30s. When marked targets take direct damage from Resonators, Chisa inflicts 1 stack of Havoc Bane on them.

Requirements: Inflicted via Resonance Skill, Serrated Loop, Dodge Counter - Eye of Unraveling: Retraction, or Locking on.

Thread of Bane

When dealing damage to targets affected by Unseen Snare, ignore 18% of their DEF.

Requirements: Affected by Unseen Snare.

Chainsaw Mode

Unlocks Sawring - Blitz, Sawring Eradication, Chainsaw Mode - Dodge Counter. These consume Ring of Chainsaw on hit.

Requirements: Entered by casting Serrated Loop when Ring of Chainsaw is full.

Sawring - Blitz

Chains up to 3 consecutive attacks dealing Havoc DMG. Damage is considered Resonance Liberation DMG.

Requirements: While in Chainsaw Mode, press Normal Attack to start combo.

Sawring - Eradication

Deals Havoc DMG and grants Shields to all nearby Resonators in the team for 30s.

Requirements: After Sawring - Blitz Stage 3: Falltone or after consuming all Ring of Chainsaw with Sawring - Blitz or Chainsaw Mode - Dodge Counter.

Lifethread - Glide

Pulls in nearby enemies marked by Unseen Snare. Can trigger successful Dodges.

Requirements: Not in Chainsaw Mode, more than 10 points of Lifethread - Jetstream, consume 50 points.

Chainsaw Fever

If Chisa goes without dealing damage for a period, Chainsaw Fever depletes. At 0, she enters Burnout State and exits Chainsaw Mode.

Requirements: While in Chainsaw Mode.

Havoc Bane Support Build Details

Best Weapon: Kumokiri
Alternative Weapons: Wildfire Mark, Lustrous Razor, Autumntrace
Notes: Hybrid sub-DPS support build using 3-pc Thread of Severed Fate and 2-pc Havoc Eclipse. Prioritize CRIT and ATK stats. ATK on 3-cost can be used for better heals and shields at the cost of a small damage loss.

Best Echo Sets

1
thread_of_severed_fate + havoc_eclipse echo set icon

Thread of Severed Fate + Havoc Eclipse

5 pieces

Highly recommended as it fits her kit perfectly. The new set gives extra ATK and Res. Liberation DMG, both easily triggered due to her Havoc Bane application. Havoc Eclipse gives extra Havoc DMG for better personal damage.

2
rejuvenating_glow echo set icon

Rejuvenating Glow

5 pieces

Viable for a more healer build, as it provides a team-wide ATK buff when she heals allies.

3
thread_of_severed_fate + rejuvenating_glow echo set icon

Thread of Severed Fate + Rejuvenating Glow

5 pieces

Balances her own damage and healing capabilities, making it ideal for a more support-oriented build.

Recommended Main Echoes

The best Echo for Chisa to use due to its Havoc Bane-focused effects. Provides 12% Havoc DMG Bonus and 12% Resonance Liberation DMG Bonus. Deals additional DoT via Core of Collapse that hits harder against Havoc Bane-inflicted enemies. Summon-type Echo.
Ideal for Healer Chisa due to its supportive buffs. Provides 10% bonus Energy Regen and a team-wide 10% ATK buff. Summon-type Echo.
Alternative if you don't have the Threnodian Echo. Provides Havoc DMG bonus, but its transform-type effect can affect combos.

Tips & Tricks

  • Chisa is a hybrid sub-DPS support built around Havoc Bane to buff Negative Status-centric teams.
  • For her 3-COSTs, ATK% performs similarly to Havoc DMG but provides better heals and shields.
  • Her Forte Circuit and Resonance Liberation are her primary skills to prioritize.
  • In teams where the DPS scales with ATK, Rejuvenating Glow is viable on her.
  • Use Reminiscence: Threnodian - Leviathan as the main Echo for optimal damage and Havoc Bane synergy.

Strategy

  • 1. Start with Suisui and build up her Forte gauge. Once full, cast Resonance Skill to switch stances.
  • 2. Next, do a mid-air attack to plunge into the ground, followed by 4 Basic Attacks. Then, cast Resonance Liberation and Echo Skill before switching to Chisa via Outro.
  • 3. As Chisa, do a full Basic Attack String. Then, perform Resonance Liberation.
  • 4. With max Forte gauge, cast Resonance Skill and hold the attack button until Forte is depleted. You may then switch out to Yangyang: Xuanling.
  • 5. As Yangyang enters via Intro, hold Heavy Attack until her Forte gauge is depleted.
  • 6. Next, press Resonance Skill to switch stances and hold Heavy Attack again.
  • 7. Afterwards, cast Resonance Liberation followed by a Resonance Skill.
  • 8. Lastly, perform another Heavy Attack and exit via Outro to Suisui.
  • 9. Repeat until all enemies are defeated.

Notes

The introduction of a dedicated Havoc Bane DPS, Yangyang Xuanling, lets Chisa finally see her true potential as she's quite essential in letting Yangyang unlock her innate buffs. Chisa's capacity to increase the max stack limit of Negative Statuses is important, as it ensures that Yangyang is able to maximize her Inherent Skill and Forte Circuit passives. Aside from this, she provides DEF reduction against enemies and can heal the team with her combos. Whereas, Yangyang Xuanling is one of the strongest DPS units in the game with her insane damage output. Further assisted by Suisui's massive DMG buffs to Havoc Bane Resonators, this makes for one of the best teams in the game.

Chisa Glacio Chafe Team

Team Composition

Strategy

  • 1. Start with Chisa and do one Resonance Skill followed by a Basic Attack string. Then, cast Resonance Liberation to max out her Forte.
  • 2. Next, cast Resonance Skill followed by holding the attack button until Chisa's Forte is depleted. You may then switch out to Lucilla via Outro.
  • 3. After Lucilla enters the field via Intro, hold her Resonance Skill to quickly get three Photo stacks. Once available, cast Resonance Liberation.
  • 4. Once Lucilla is in the Reminiscence mode, hold Heavy Attack until her Forte is depleted. Then, cast Echo Skill and switch to Hiyuki via Outro.
  • 5. With Hiyuki, hold Heavy Attack to fill her Forte and wait until the attack string is completed.
  • 6. Once Resonance Liberation is available, cast it to enter the Foreclaimed Self state.
  • 7. In this form, build up Hiyuki's Forte gauge by performing 5 Basic Attacks. Then, press Resonance Skill.
  • 8. After the first Resonance Skill, hold the second Resonance Skill cast to immediately enter the Iai stance, then do three instances of Basic Attack - Iai.
  • 9. Lastly, perform a Heavy Attack and follow it up with Hiyuki's Resonance Liberation. Then, switch back to Chisa via Outro.
  • 10. Repeat until no enemies are left on the field.

Notes

Chisa has seen amazing performance in the Glacio Chafe composition alongside Hiyuki and Lucilla. As a DPS, Hiyuki has a very balanced kit, boasting strong DMG multipliers, Glacio Chafe application and usage, AoE crowd-control, and DMG negation against enemies. This is further exemplified with the addition of Lucilla, who provides amazing Glacio Chafe stack application for the party, while also boasting a lot of Glacio Chafe-centered buffs with her Inherent and Outro Skills. Aside from this, her decent damage output and fast rotations ensure that Hiyuki stays on-field for much longer. As for the premier Negative Status healer, Chisa raises the level of Hiyuki's teams quite a lot with her capacity to increase the stack limit of Glacio Chafe. Additionally, she inflicts Havoc Bane onto enemies, which reduces their DEF stats for Hiyuki to deal more damage. Lastly, this team maximizes Hiyuki's self-buffs that are unlocked for each unique Havoc Bane or Glacio Chafe Resonator in the team.

  • 4. In Breakdown Form, perform one Basic Attack String and immediately follow it up with two casts of her Empowered Resonance Skill.
  • 5. Afterwards, press Resonance Liberation and switch out to Aemeath via Outro.
  • 6. As Aemeath enters via Intro, perform three Basic Attacks followed by her Resonance Liberation.
  • 7. Then, do four Basic Attacks and a Resonance Skill afterwards. Repeat this twice until there are four diamonds in her Forte gauge.
  • 8. Next, hold Basic Attack and press Resonance Skill once it's glowing to perform Aemeath's nuke skill. Lastly, switch out to Chisa once Outro is available.
  • 9. Repeat until all enemies are defeated.

Notes

The addition of Denia in the game significantly improved on the Fusion Burst mechanic, completing the composition with a dedicated sub-DPS who provides great stacking of the debuff and DMG buffs to the Negative Status. While Aemeath can provide stacks of her own, Denia excellently complements her kit by providing crowd-control through her abilities, letting the DoT debuff be consistently applied among enemies. Additionally, Denia provides off-field support through her Erosion Field, which continuously inflicts Fusion Burst and crowd-control. Lastly, Chisa completes the team by providing further buffs to the mechanic through her ability to increase the max stack limit of Negative Statuses, DEF reduction against enemies, and crowd-control of her own. This team is great for AoE-based content, but also performs at the top level in other game modes.

Chisa Aero Erosion Team

Team Composition

Strategy

  • 1. Let Chisa enter the field and initiate with Resonance Skill. Then, do her Basic Attack string up to Death Snip and follow up with Thread Withdrawn. Afterwards, cast her Liberation to fill her Forte bar.
  • 2. With her Forte full, enter Chainsaw Mode with her Resonance Skill. During this time, hold her attack button to perform her full Sawring combo. Chisa will finish with her Sawring - Eradication, which you can then switch to the next Resonator.
  • 3. Have Ciaccona enter the field to immediately generate 1 Musical Essence and inflict 1 Erosion stack on enemies. Follow this up with 2 Basic Attacks to generate one more Musical Essence and let her do a Solo Concert.
  • 4. Do her optimal combos until her Forte is full, then cast a Heavy Attack to group enemies together. Lastly, cast her Resonance Liberation and switch to Cartethyia via Outro. Make sure Ciaccona is applying Aero Erosion with her Liberation.
  • 5. Once Cartethyia enters the field, she will generate 2 Erosion stacks and the Sword of Discord with her Intro. Follow this up with 3 Basic Attacks to apply more Erosion stacks and summon Sword of Divinity.
  • 6. Next, cast Resonance Skill to apply more Erosion stacks and summon Sword of Virtue. Once the three swords are available, do a mid-air attack to recall them.
  • 7. Cast Liberation to transform into Fleurdelys and immediately follow up with her Resonance Skill to group enemies together. Then, do three Mid-air attacks and recast her Resonance Skill to deal more damage.
  • 8. After this, do a Heavy Attack and two Basic Attacks to bring enemies into the air. Lastly, cast her Liberation to deal great Aero DMG in a straight line.
  • 9. Once she de-transforms, you can switch back to Chisa to repeat the rotation.

Notes

Chisa can work as a sub-DPS healer for the Aero Erosion team with Cartethyia and Ciaccona. She can increase the maximum number of Aero Erosion stacks that can be applied onto enemies, similar to Rover (Aero), and can reduce enemy DEF with Havoc Bane. She is a slight upgrade to Aero Rover with Kumokiri, offering around the same benefits to the team but with more consistent healing and shielding. This is worth considering when getting her, as it essentially frees up Rover to be in other teams, such as with Zani or Phoebe in Spectro Frazzle teams.

Chisa Spectro Frazzle Team (Phoebe)

Team Composition

Strategy

  • 1. Start combat with Chisa and build up her Forte with her Resonance Skill and Basic Attacks. Once her Forte reaches around 60 points, cast her Liberation to deal good damage, enhance her Sawring attacks, and fill her Forte bar.
  • 2. With her Forte full, cast her enhanced Resonance Skill to enter Chainsaw Mode. Then, hold her attack button to perform her full Sawring attack string and end her rotation.
  • 3. Once the Concerto Gauge is maxed out, switch over to Rover (Spectro). Use Rover's optimal combos to apply Spectro Frazzle in the process. Finish up by swapping to Phoebe when her icon starts to glow.
  • 4. Open with Phoebe's Resonance Skill and Echo Skill to set herself up. Then, enter Absolution mode by holding down the Normal Attack input. Afterwards, unleash Phoebe's Resonance Liberation if it's available.
  • 5. In Absolution mode, chain together Phoebe's Basic Attacks to upgrade and use her Heavy Attack: Starflash until she's out of Forte Gauge.
  • 6. Take note of the decaying Frazzle stacks on the enemy to make sure that there is still a stack every time Phoebe does her combo. If there are no stacks, quick-swap to Rover and use their skill to top up the Frazzle stacks.
  • 7. Switch back to Chisa once her Intro is available. Repeat until all enemies are defeated.

Notes

Chisa works in Spectro Frazzle teams by providing massive DEF reduction on to enemies via Havoc Bane and her Outro Skill, as well as increasing the maximum number of Frazzle stacks that can be applied. She also provides shields and heals for the entire team during her on-field time, making her a viable healer support unit. Of the two teams, Main DPS Phoebe particularly benefits from her the most due to her being able to activate Kumokiri's All-Type DMG Bonus buff with her Negative Status application. Zani cannot benefit from this, as she does not apply Negative Status effects. Her Heliacal Embers mechanic does not count toward this effect. Please take note that for supports, Shorekeeper is still the better option due to her more consistent healing, CRIT Rate, and DMG Amplification, although Chisa can be a good replacement and can open her up for other teams.

Chisa Spectro Frazzle Team (Zani)

Team Composition

Strategy

  • 1. Begin combat with Zani and build up her Redundant Energy via her Basic Attacks. This will help her succeed in rotations later on.
  • 2. Have Chisa enter the field and build her Forte bar with her Basic Attacks. Once she performs Death Snip, cast her Liberation to deal good damage, enhance her Sawring attacks, and fill her Forte bar.
  • 3. With her Forte full, cast her enhanced Resonance Skill to enter Chainsaw Mode. Then, hold her attack button to perform her full Sawring attack string and end her rotation.
  • 4. Switch to Phoebe and enter Confession Mode to stack Spectro Frazzle stacks. Her ideal combo is to perform two Heavy Attacks and her Resonance Liberation. Once Concerto is full, switch to Zani.
  • 5. Have Zani enter via her Intro Skill to get a Spectro DMG Bonus. Then, with her Redundant Energy full, cast her transformed Resonance Skill to enter Sunburst Mode and gain 20% Spectro Frazzle DMG amplification.
  • 6. Next, cast Resonance Liberation enter her Inferno Mode.
  • 7. In Inferno Mode, do two sets of Heavy Slash combos to deplete her Blaze stacks. Each Blaze stack increases her DMG multipliers.
  • 8. Once her Blaze stacks are depleted, you will be primed to use her second Liberation. Cast it to deal big damage against enemies.

Zani cannot benefit from Kumokiri's All-Type DMG Bonus buff as she does not apply Negative Status effects. Her Heliacal Embers mechanic does not count toward this effect. Please take note that for supports, Shorekeeper is still the better option due to her more consistent healing, CRIT Rate, and DMG Amplification, although Chisa can be a good replacement and can open her up for other teams.

Chisa Sub-DPS Team

Team Composition

Strategy

  • 1. Start with Shorekeeper and go through her optimal combos to generate Resonance and Concerto energy. Once available, deploy Stellarealm via her Liberation and exit with Outro.
  • 2. Switch to Chisa and have her cast three Basic Attacks immediately after her Intro Skill. Then, cast Resonance Liberation to fill her Forte gauge to max.
  • 3. Once Chisa's Forte is full, use Resonance Skill to change her kit into her Sawring attacks. You may hold the Resonance Skill to group enemies together.
  • 4. With Sawring active, simply hold Chisa's Heavy Attack until all attacks are consumed. You may then switch out to Hiyuki via Outro.
  • 5. After Hiyuki enters via Intro, hold Heavy Attack until her bow attack string ends.
  • 6. Then, press Resonance Liberation to enter the Foreclaimed Self state. In this state, do five Basic Attacks, followed by pressing the first Resonance Skill.
  • 7. Next, hold Hiyuki's second Resonance Skill to instantly enter the Iai Stance. You can follow this up with three instances of Basic Attack - Iai.
  • 8. With Hiyuki's Forte gauge glowing, do a Heavy Attack followed by Resonance Liberation. You can hold Hiyuki's Liberation cast to save or consume her Snowforged Blade stacks.
  • 9. As Hiyuki's Concerto is full, switch back to Shorekeeper via Outro to detonate Stellarealm.
  • 10. Repeat until all enemies are defeated.

Notes

Chisa can work as the premier sub-DPS in certain Negative Status teams, particularly with Hiyuki's Glacio Chafe composition. In this setup, Chisa focuses on dealing damage, grouping enemies together, increasing the max stack limit of Negative Statuses, and reducing DEF of enemies for optimal damage. As Rejuvenating Glow doesn't stack, have Shorekeeper hold this set while Chisa makes use of Thread of Severed Fate and Havoc Eclipse. Furthermore, Shorekeeper's own buffs boost both Hiyuki and Chisa's DMG outputs, making the team quite viable. Lastly, Hiyuki is the best main DPS to work in this setup due to her kit's unique synergy with Havoc Bane. Additionally, Hiyuki is unlike other Negative Status DPS units who rely on other Resonators to provide the stacks for them. This self-application and consumption allows Chisa to work in this role well, letting both healers funnel buffs to Hiyuki.

Character Story

1The Summer Where the Story Began

She spent her six-year-old summer riding on her father's shoulders.

The night breeze carried the mingled scents of fireworks and grilled squid from the festival stalls. With a marshmallow stick in one hand, little Chisa pointed toward the sky with the other. Goldfish-shaped lanterns swayed in the breeze, and fireworks blossomed overhead. She saw red threads tied to people's wrists stretching and intertwining, weaving into a warm, invisible web that softly enveloped the festival crowd.

"What wish did you just make, Chisa?" her mother asked, the fireworks reflected tenderly in her eyes. Chisa's cheeks were sticky with apple syrup as she puffed them out and proudly declared, "I want to be like Mom! To make the prettiest paper cuttings so I can keep every precious, happy thing—"

Her twelve-year-old summer was different. That year, her world fell into silence all of a sudden.

Her father was away on endless business trips, and the refrigerator door was plastered with her mother's shift schedules. Over time, she grew used to the cold beeps that greeted her at the other end of the line.

"It's okay. I can take care of myself," little Chisa whispered to herself. With such resolution, she lifted the pot lid and decided to make herself a lemon-scented sukiyaki hotpot. The prepared meal package on the table read in bold print: a healing dish for a family gathering.

The broth began to bubble, filling the room with the rich scent of beef and vegetables. Steam fogged the windows. Turning her face to the misted glass, Chisa saw only her own faint, lonely reflection. No laughter, no clink of glasses.

"For a family gathering."

Such a gentle phrase, she thought, and yet so very far away.

2The Long Rainy Season

Her fifteenth summer smelled of pencil shavings and loneliness.

One afternoon, the ceaseless rain of the tsuyu season briefly relented. Carrying a stack of books to return, Chisa crossed the courtyard and passed the equipment room. From behind the door came muffled sobs. Through the narrow gap, she glimpsed her classmate Ritsuko cornered by three girls, her shirt blotched with ink, her eyeglasses shattered on the floor. The head of them pressed a lighter to the embroidered name on her uniform, filling the air with the bitter stench of scorched fabric.

It reminded Chisa of the frog in biology class, pinned flat to the dissection tray, limbs splayed, yet its heart still beating futilely. Before she could think, her hand had already acted. She pushed the ajar door open and drew out the scissors she always carried.

That small pair of scissors had been her mother's faithful companion throughout her career and was passed down to her. Now, it pointed at someone's face for the first time.

"Let her go," she demanded.

Retribution came swiftly. By the next morning, her desk was carved with "idiot." Her locker overflowed with shredded textbooks. But the worst part of it was the blurred faces—no sooner than when she tried to see who had tripped her did she realize every face around her had melted into smears of color. The doctor's report read "psychogenic visual recognition disorder." In the wake of her awakened Forte, her brain had cut loose the thread that allowed her to recognize faces.

In that moment, she heard a faint snap—not the brittle break of nerves, but like the sound she heard when the strings of her goldfish lantern snagged on a tree during a festival years ago. The warm, vibrant threads that once bound people together unraveled, falling away in a rain of broken fragments.

When her scissors shredded the final note filled with malicious words, rain hammered the classroom windows. Chisa stared at her hazy, flickering reflection on the window and suddenly realized that growing up meant learning to cut out every loose thread herself—lantern strings tangled in branches, the kite string unwinding between her and her parents, or the cruel arcs frozen on her bullies' lips.

The rainy season stretched on. Cicadas rose with the mounting summer heat. Clutching her scissors, Chisa began to imagine a path she could carve on her own: a path perhaps lonely, but true to her heart. The one she would never need to turn back from.

3Blurred Features

In her sixteenth summer, dark clouds stretched endlessly, and rain came pouring down. Thunder weighed against her eardrums as she stood before the floor-to-ceiling windows of the Resonator Monitoring Center.

"Did you hear me?" The voice was sharp with discontent. Chisa lifted her gaze, only to find the speaker's features dissolving into nothingness.

"Loud and clear," she replied to the void.

The collar clicked shut around her neck, bearing the cold touch of surveillance equipment.

When the storm finally subsided, she set out for home. Cutting through the park, she came upon a boy crying beside a slide, clutching a snapped kite string. In her vision, the kite caught in the treetop stood out with uncanny clarity: three branches formed a natural lock, and if the far-right one was severed—

"Hold there," she stopped the boy from tugging the string. His eyes widened. With a soft snap, the branch split, and the kite drifted down, alighting gently in his arms.

"Thank y—" His cheer broke off at a shrill cry. "M-monster! Stay away from my child!"

Following the woman's terrified gaze, Chisa then became conscious again of the collar biting cold against her throat.

It wasn't a big deal. She told herself she should be used to this by now.

She could see the kite's frame, the trajectories of raindrops, or even the currents of electrons surging through the storm clouds with such clarity, but she could never see through others' faces or their hearts.

She turned and was about to step into the rain, but a small tug caught her sleeve. The boy had wriggled free from his mother's grasp. He pressed a packet of star-shaped candies into her palm. "Here. This is for you! My teacher says only the brave get star candy, so…"

The plastic wrapper crackled faintly in her hand. Chisa stared at the boy. His face was still a blur, yet it glowed, like fireflies circling lanterns in a festival long ago.

"Mom says people with these collars are bad," He leaned closer, whispering. "But I don't believe her. The way you cut that branch? It was so cool."

Chisa paused, then crouched to pat his head.

The device against her throat stayed still. Her Resonance Spectrum was showing a rare, steady curve. Like a summer sky after the storm, a hint of light finally broke through.

4Nighmare of the Second Month

"...!"

Chisa jolted awake from the nightmare, cold sweat soaking her back. In a daze, her side still throbbed with a sharp, phantom pain that clawed at her nerves.

But her flesh was unbroken, unlike in the dream. Drawing a deep breath, she pressed a hand to her chest, trying to calm the frantic pounding of her heart.

It had been two months since she was trapped in Honami. Her body was slowly adjusting to the endless loop day after day, but each night the nightmares dragged her soul deeper into the abyss.

She turned her head toward the sofa. Sumika lay fast asleep, one hand slipping from the cushion, the other resting beside an open notebook scrawled with numbers and scribbled notes.

Outside, the rain fell in relentless torrents.

By the time Sumika woke up, dusk had already descended. The storm had weakened. Faint stars dotted the ink-blue sky, like silver nails scattered carelessly across the cold night. Still yawning, she followed Chisa into a convenience store. While Chisa carefully gathered food and supplies from the shelves, she turned to find Sumika absorbed in the flickering sign overhead, notebook and pen already in hand.

"Chisa, look at this—" she whispered, voice brimming with restrained excitement. "It's just the same as last time! The time, the flicker rate... Everything matches! If we can just gather a few more samples... these data will let us uncover the pattern behind the loop!"

Catching the brightness in her eyes, Chisa unconsciously clenched her fists. In her palm lingered the sensation of yesterday's cut when she severed the Tacet Discords' threads, a cold shiver, like the snapping of silk.

Whenever she drew her scissors and used her Forte, crimson lines surfaced in her vision—the threads of life, visible only to her. Unlike the warmth of human veins, these threads reeked of decay. They pursued the Left Behind, tearing them apart and dragging those fragile lives into yet another loop alongside the Lament.

Chisa studied her reflection on the window: a face calm, almost pale, but with a single ember still burning in her eyes.

Yesterday, here in this very store, she had crossed paths with the same girl again. The one she met every loop, who always shared her snacks so earnestly, never once realizing that she bore the iridescent glow of the Left Behind. Perhaps it was that fragile but unyielding kindness that kept Chisa from accepting that this city had been forever imprisoned in the past.

The night stretched long, but dawn would always come.

When the first light finally broke through the leaden clouds, she thought she could hear the trembling hum of threads. Pressing her hand to her chest, Chisa knew that when the next loop began, everything would reset once again.

But that was fine.

As long as the scissors remained in her grasp, as long as the fragments of warmth had not been completely forgotten...

She would keep walking forward until the day she could finally cut through the nightmare and sever the snare.

5Beyond the Summer's End

In the afternoon, a drizzle pattered against the window.

Chisa stood by the floor-to-ceiling window of the Spacetrek Archive. At eighteen, she finally had the leisure to listen to the rhythm of the rain—not the monotonous cadence of Honami's looping rains, but the natural raindrops of Lahai-Roi. Fresh, alive, tinged with a faint sweetness in the air. It was the kind of rain that would casually soak a school uniform left drying on a balcony, or drench an unsuspecting student on the way home.

Steam curled gently from the coffee on her table. With her scissors, she unpacked a bag of sugar... Yes, she still carried them everywhere, though now they were used more for pruning potted plants or opening parcels. The sugar dissolved into the dark surface of the cup. Beyond the window, a few students in bright yellow raincoats splashed through puddles. Their vivid color pierced the gray veil of drizzle, stirring memories of days spent facing endless loops and relentless beginnings—of someone who once walked beside her to the destination of the endless loop, cutting a path through the long night; and of someone who chose to tread countless false paths alone, turning herself into a cornerstone of truth.

When the rain eased, Chisa stepped out of the Archive with a book in her arms. The damp evening breeze lifted her freshly cut hair. The campus stretched before her, alive with the soft after-rain glow. A group of students from the Department of Engineering was engaged in a heated debate over a hovering device. Someone noticed her through the thinning mist, waved brightly, and called her to join—

She watched these young, fervent souls, companions beneath the same sky, all bound for the same sea of stars. And she realized, with striking clarity, that she was no longer a wanderer lost in an endless loop. Her life, after a period of stagnation, had already rejoined the rushing river that carried everyone forward.

She had truly left that endless summer behind.

Taking a steady step, she walked toward her new future.

Thoughts: I

This nickel-plated pair of scissors weighs about 152 grams. Its max opening angle is roughly 60 degrees. Just enough to cut through thick wool, even with quilted fleece hidden in the seam. I've always been able to estimate numbers like that, even as a little girl. But after that strange and terrifying power descended upon me, I started seeing more. Now, even a single inch feels like an entire world.

Thoughts: II

When I was little, I'd sit on the porch of our house, listening to cicadas while cutting colored paper into goldfish and lucky stars. My mother would be nearby, stitching a yukata. The electric fan creaked as it turned, and slow midday dramas played on the TV... Now that I think about it, summers like that were kind of a luxury.

Thoughts: III

In Honami, summer never ends. But there are no cicadas. No evening wind chimes. Only the endless loop of the Lament... Sometimes, I find old boxes of sugar candy in abandoned convenience stores. Normally, living beings shouldn't feel hunger inside a Sonoro Sphere. But that sugary taste always brings back memories of festivals back home, candy in hand... Sorry, I guess none of that really matters.

Thoughts: IV

I... I'm not good with faces. When I was little, people always said I got stuck on the details. But ever since faces started blurring in front of me, I've had to rely on that instead. In this Sonoro, "death" is only temporary. Those who disappear always show up again like nothing happened. So I take notes. The grease stain on the shopkeeper's sleeve across the road. The shape of the clerk's hair clip in the convenience store. That way, even if their faces are a blur, I still know who they are.

Thoughts: V

Since grade school, I was what people called a "straight-A student." Steady grades. Perfect attendance. Neat handwriting. Homework always early. Not a single crease in my textbooks. For most people, that's enough... and I don't mind that. People have always trusted me for those reasons, without ever really knowing me. But with you, it's different. You didn't come to me because you saw "I was performing well." You didn't stay because I seemed "reliable." <br/>We've stood together on the edge of this city's collapse, again and again. That's why I wanted to say this. Like you said... we're partners. So of course I trust you, too.

Chisa's Hobby

Handcrafting, tailoring, plus... mathematics. Yes, I'd say I'm quite good at these.

Chisa's Trouble

It's probably my lack of facial expressions. A lot of people think I'm "difficult to approach." It's not that I dislike anyone. I just don't know... how to approach people in a natural way.

Favorite Food

Chocolate bars... A former classmate gave me one once and said something like, "Keep frowning like that and your blood sugar's gonna crash." Didn't really get the science behind it. But after trying one... I started keeping a few boxes on hand. They're good for a quick energy boost, and they keep my head clear. That's the main reason I have them.<br/>...But I do have to admit that chocolate is better than strawberry.

Disliked Food

Spicy food. I tasted some <te href=850093>Huanglong</te> cuisines while I was at the Black Shores, and they were... unique. It was the first time I was annoyed by my lack of tolerance for spice. But maybe this could change with enough practice? I'll have to try more.

Ideals

...I don't have any grand ideals. I just know that if I see something happening, I can't pretend I didn't. If my abilities can help, even a little, then I'll keep using them.

Chat: I

These small scissors I carry with me were a present from my mother. She used them her entire career as a seamstress. Later, I used them to alter my new school uniform I wore to orientation. It didn't quite fit, so I adjusted it myself. They feel like an invisible thread my parents stitched into me. Silent, yet always pulling me forward.

Chat: II

The day they put this collar on me, it happened to rain in my hometown. I watched the downpour and rolling stormclouds through the window, and oddly enough, I felt a sense of relief. My Resonance Ability had been restrained. And I told myself, "Now they won't hate you anymore."

About Sumika

Sumika was the first to uncover the "loop pattern" of the <te href=850077>Sonoro</te>. We used to pull all-nighters at the safe house, crunching data. I needed coffee to stay focused, but she always stayed sharp. Honestly, even borderline manic. But I knew how deeply she wanted to understand the truth behind the city's Lament. Maybe that's just the nature of a true researcher. Like she said, even the most dangerous equation still needs someone willing to solve it.

About Namipon

Born of love. Always kind and dependable... That's the Guardian of Honami City. Or at least, that's how it likes to introduce itself. Being around Namipon feels peaceful. Hard to explain. Sometimes it follows me, quietly. I won't notice until it brushes up against me, soft fur against my arm, asking if I want coffee. But there's something more beneath that face. Something vast. Maybe it's just... trying to return the love people once gave it.

About Buling

She's a very fascinating Taoist. If I remember correctly, she's from <te href=850154>Mengzhou</te>, in <te href=850093>Huanglong</te>? She's always saying odd metaphors and local sayings, and showing off the rare antiques she carries around. Once even offered me a "Buy two, get 20% off" deal. Maybe... I'll take her up on it. Just to see.

About Shorekeeper

Shorekeeper helped me a lot while I've been recovering at <te href=850109>the Black Shores</te>. It took me a while to settle in, but in time, I started to feel the kindness there. Shorekeeper once took me to the beach at the Haven of Sprouts to see the stars. They were infinite. And I found myself thinking... Sumika must've stood beneath that same sky many times, imagining the future she hoped to reach.

Birthday Wishes

A birthday... isn't just the anniversary of your birth. It's also a reminder that you're still here. For me, that alone makes it important.<br/>So... please continue to stay healthy, level-headed, endlessly capable, and someone others can count on. May each of your days pass smoothly, and may there always be someone walking alongside you.<br/>—That's the most concise and practical birthday wish I could come up with.
